Essential Job Functions:

  • Identifies vehicle problems and services by listening to customer’s description of symptoms
  • Verifies warranty and service contract coverage by examining records and papers, explaining provisions and exclusions
  • Develops estimates by costing materials, supplies, and labor, calculating customer’s payment, including deductibles
  • Prepares repair orders (RO)
  • Handles customer complaints and maintains high customer satisfaction standards
  • Periodically checks on the progress of the vehicle during servicing and contacts the customer as needed to keep them up to date with their vehicle’s status.

Qualifications to be a Service Writer:

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Dealership Service Advisor experience is highly preferred
  • Able to navigate a computer, internet, and email.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Reliable and strong work ethic.
  • A positive attitude, good work ethic, and professional appearance
  • Must present a professional demeanor, and punctuality, and be able to work weekends and holidays, if needed.
  • Must be able to function in a fast-paced environment.
  • Valid driver’s license in the state where you will work and a good driving record.
